St. Clair, Gugin Offer Indiana’s 200 at Sunday Book Talk

Historians Linda Gugin and Jim St. Clair will be at Destinations Booksellers on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. to present Indiana’s 200: The People Who Shaped the Hoosier State, their latest collaboration as editors of Indiana history.

Indiana200

More than 100 authors contributed to this large-format collection of biographical notes on prominent and/or significant people who have called Indiana home.

The Indiana Historical Press is the publisher of the book, which sells for $39.95. The authors will give a brief presentation on the genesis and creation of this historical keepsake as Indiana enters into its bicentennial year, and take questions afterward. Several local contributors are also expected to be in attendance during the event.

To reserve your copy of the book, call or text the store at 812.944.5116

We won’t be adding content here anymore. Instead, under the tab “Commentary,” we relaunch our blogging activity. The new site and the new blog are optimized for mobile and it’s much more dynamic.

One reader said the new site is already better than the old one. Please check it out and transfer your subscription to the new iteration.

To repeat: No more new posts here. Everything is incorporated into our new website. Thanks.

Dale Moss Offers His Best With Mosswords, Aug. 27

If you’ve missed Dale Moss’s writing over the past year or so, never fear. The former C-J columnist, a Southern Indiana institution, will be reading from, discussing, and signing his new book, Mosswords: Stories of Indiana in The Courier-Journal, at Destinations Booksellers on Tuesday, August 27, from 4 to 6 p.m.

MosswordsDale has collected scores of his most memorable columns in a collectible format that’s now on sale here at the store.

The Jeffersonville resident remains active as a journalist with the newspaper in Salem, Ind., but his perspective on Indiana has been sorely missed by C-J readers.

Take this opportunity to meet Dale and tell him how much you’ve missed him – and show him how much by buying his book.

And just in time for the MLB All-Star Game is Kyle Learns Baseball, a multi-generational story that proves why baseball remains a most beloved sport.
